OUR SERVICES

Wedding Officiant &

Spiritual Counseling

As a seasoned wedding officiant, I have over a decade of experience specializing in both multicultural and interfaith ceremonies, ranging from Jewish to American weddings. Including LGBTQ couples. I often meet couples from diverse religious and cultural backgrounds who are concerned about crafting a ceremony that respectfully honors both their families’ heritages and traditions without offending or excluding their partner, family, or guests. I am keenly aware of the unique requirements of each cultural and religious background you might wish to incorporate.

There’s a significant difference between a ceremony that casually incorporates a few religious or cultural elements and one that is thoughtfully designed with the history and richness of traditions in mind. Blending different traditions, particularly when religion is involved, can be challenging. It’s crucial to select a wedding officiant with whom you feel comfortable, confident, and excited.

When creating wedding ceremonies, my primary focus is on magic and inclusion. I strive to ensure that each party feels meaningfully represented in the ceremony. Every ceremony I craft is custom-designed, tailored to the individual preferences of each couple. With nearly a decade of experience and numerous weddings under my belt, I take pride in offering guidance in officiating both Jewish and interfaith ceremonies. My practice also includes three pre-wedding couple counseling sessions to foster successful marriages, affinity, and communication.

A key aspect of honoring couples in my ceremonies is emphasizing their love for each other and the universal theme of love, a core element in all religions. Love binds couples, whether from similar or vastly different backgrounds, in their desire to marry and share their lives. This emphasis on love forms the foundation of each ceremony. Every couple has their unique way of honoring and celebrating their enduring love and marriage. Seamlessly blending the different elements and traditions of two people is my expertise.

  • I offer more than just a simple civil ceremony.
  • I will work closely with you to plan a wedding ceremony that draws on your spiritual beliefs and personal values, allowing your faith and traditions to shine through in a symbolic way.
  • I can incorporate wedding traditions with a contemporary twist into your ceremony, giving you and your guests a memorable experience to enjoy together.

As an experienced officiant, I am adept at conducting ceremonies for both heterosexual and same-sex couples, as well as interfaith weddings that incorporate Jewish traditions, which can vary significantly. Some couples may choose to include only the tradition of breaking the glass, while others might wish to marry under a Chuppah (Jewish wedding canopy). In interfaith weddings, it’s important to explain traditions like the Chuppah or breaking the glass to guests unfamiliar with Jewish customs. This explanation can be provided either during the ceremony or in the program handed out to guests.

For Jewish couples, the Ketubah, a signed agreement between the couple and witnessed by others, is traditionally signed before the public ceremony. However, for interfaith couples, incorporating the signing of the Ketubah during the ceremony itself can be a beautiful and meaningful ritual. In these cases, the Ketubah is displayed on an easel, and I read its text in English. The couple and their witnesses are then invited to sign it before the exchange of vows and rings. After the ceremony, the Ketubah can be displayed during the cocktail hour or reception for guests to admire.

Regarding titles, my official title is “Rabbi,” but as an interfaith officiant, I can be addressed as either Rabbi or Officiant in programs. When signing the Ketubah, I use my Rabbi title. I work closely with couples to create a ceremony that respectfully honors both religious backgrounds in an inclusive manner, acting as both a professional public speaker and a Rabbi who ensures the uniqueness of each family’s traditions is honored.

If you are considering me as your officiant, please check my availability. Feel free to contact me with your specific needs, and I look forward to the opportunity to be part of your special day.

Remote Meetings

Please be aware that all client/couple meetings (initial consultation and subsequent meetings) are ALL remote. My couples are local, national and international and we don’t meet until the rehearsal (if a rehearsal was booked and paid for) and/or the wedding day.

Wedding Day Coordination

If you’ve booked your vendors, planned your wedding and need a top-notch Coordinator to orchestrate all the details on your wedding day, we can work together on the programming.

Getting Started

Please click here to complete my quick consultation form. Once I receive that and get a good sense of the size, scope and location of your ceremony, we’ll then schedule a consultation at a mutually convenient time.

I’m very flexible and can work around your busy schedules to accommodate evening and weekend consultations. The consultation will be on Zoom call and will run for approximately 1 hour.

Our first meeting is mainly an information gathering session (on both our parts) where we’ll discuss your love story, your ideas, get to know each other and determine next steps for co-creating a beautiful customized ceremony.

Book Early

Planning your wedding day should ideally start with choosing your date, followed by your venue and then your Officiant.

I often see couples waiting until the last minute to hire their Officiant. I urge you NOT to do this as you may be disappointed. Most top-notch Officiants are booked months (sometimes a full year) in advance so to be sure that I’m available on your date, I recommend you contact me as soon as you’ve selected your venue.

Caution

You may be in for a disastrous ceremony if you choose a friend or family member who has never performed a ceremony before or someone who got a quickie online ordination just to officiate your wedding.

Your choice of Officiant is crucial and you definitely don’t want the cheapest Officiant to be a part of the most important (and expensive!) day of your life – trust me!
